Its constant use is advised in small-pox and chicken-pox or continued fevers as dilute infusion or decoction (of seeds) made over low temperature and cooled down to room temperature. Khaksir commonly acts as an effective febrifuge and antiphlogistic agent, widely used to alleviate fevers, especially those of epidemic or contagious origin. When subjected to heat through frying, the seeds exhibit efficacy against persistent cough.
They facilitate the opening of pores, aiding in alleviating symptoms of ailments typically experienced following a fever attack. In cases of cholera, a decoction of the seeds in rose water provides relief. Additionally, in fevers of viral origin, Khaksir assists in reducing thirst and vomiting. It promotes the expectoration of humors in the pectoral region, thereby alleviating chronic cough, hoarseness, or other relevant debilitating conditions of the chest or vocal organs with regular use.
