Kasini at sknatural is Cichorium intybus. It is cold and moist in first order. It belongs to family “Compositae/Asteraceae”. Generally, people use its root, seeds and leaves.
Pharmacological actions:
Deobstruent, diuretic, blood purifier, promotes bile secretion and digestion, tonic and resolvent of inflammations for liver and spleen. In warm inflammations exert cooling, repercussive and sedative effects when applied locally or over the abdomen. In moderate doses mild aperient and alterative.

Medicinal uses:
Chicory leaves possess unique compositional attributes, known for harboring demulcent or febrifuge activity with warmth. Hakims believe that ingredients with such attributes disperse over the surface of the leaves. Consequently, washing the leaves before use might remove or compromise this specific composition and quality. Thus, it is forbidden to wash the leaves before use.
When they bruise leaves with sandalwood or oil and apply to the forehead, these effectively relieve headaches caused by warmth. In cases of ophthalmia, applying them around the eyes with vinegar and rose water proves beneficial.In conditions such as rheumatism, arthritis, and gout, which arise from excess warm humors, combining them with barley flour for application provides relief.
Moreover, to address liver and stomach inflammations, desirable herbs are processed into a paste in Chicory water and applied. Administering them with mulberry syrup effectively treats visceral inflammations and resolves inflammations of the liver, stomach, and spleen. Similarly, in instances of liver and spleen obstructions, jaundice, and dropsy, physicians administer them with honey vinegar syrup (Sikanjbin) to improve stomach function.
