30 mg.-2 g. approx. Although used frequently as colouring and flavouring agent in foods and medicines; stigmas in overdose are narcotic, chief symptom following poisoning include flushing of the face, epistaxis, vertigo, vomiting and bradycardia. Abortion may also occur (but rarely).
