Description

Zeera Safaid at sknatural are seeds of Cuminum cyminum Linn. It belongs to family “Umbelliferae/Apiaceae”. Generally people use its fruit (seeds). It is warm and dry in second order/warm in second order, dry in third order.

Zeera safaid, the dried seed of the herb Cuminum cyminum, belongs to the parsley family. The cumin plant typically grows to a height of 30–50 cm (12–20 in) and is hand-harvested. It is an annual herbaceous plant with a slender, glabrous, branched stem measuring 20–30 cm (8–12 in) in height and 3–5 cm (1+1⁄4–2 in) in diameter. Each branch typically has two to three sub-branches, all reaching the same height, resulting in a uniform canopy. The stem exhibits a grey or dark green coloration.

The leaves are 5–10 cm (2–4 in) long, pinnate or bipinnate, with thread-like leaflets. Its flowers are small, white or pink, and arranged in umbels, with each umbel containing five to seven umbellets. The fruit, a lateral fusiform or ovoid achene, measures 4–5 mm (1⁄6–1⁄5 in) in length and contains two mericarps with a single seed. Cumin seeds feature eight ridges with oil canals and resemble caraway seeds, exhibiting an oblong shape, longitudinal ridges, and a yellow-brown color, akin to other members of the Apiaceae (Umbelliferae) family, such as caraway, parsley, and dill.
