Description
- Amber is the morbid secretion of a sperm whale that has been found floating on the ocean or collected from shores. Ambergris is formed in the sperm whale’s intestines in response, it is believed, to irritation of the whale’s stomach lining by the octopus’s sharp, indigestible parrot beaks. Contains ambrein (cholesterol) 85%, a little balsamic extract and ash.
Amber is stimulating, antiseptic and antispasmodic. Useful in sexual weakness, general weakness, epilepsy, convulsions and nervousness. It is also given in high fevers with insensibility or delirium and in the collapsing stage of cholera, plague and other infectious diseases. Also useful in paralysis, paralysis of the face, chorea, neuritis, weakness of the brain, nerves and heart, and palpitations.
