Guggul, گوگل, Commiphora wightii,  Muql, Gugal, Boe-Jahudan,  Salai tree, Gum-gugal are the common names for the flowering mukul myrrh tree, its scientific name is Commiphora Mukul. It is a very important herb in the Ayurvedic tradition and while it is rarely taken by itself, an entire class of medicines has been built around the use of guggul. It belongs to family “Burseraceae”. Its temperament is warm in third order, dry in second order.
Medicinal uses:

Guggul aids in lowering elevated cholesterol levels by reducing harmful low-density lipoproteins (LDL) while increasing the beneficial high-density lipoproteins (HDL). Additionally, it plays a role in preventing blood platelet aggregation and disintegrating existing blood clots. Thereby, reducing the risk of heart disease and stroke.. People widely promote it as a weight loss agent that supposedly enhances thyroid function. Its lipid stimulates the activity of white blood cells in the body, contributing to the build-up of the immune system. It helps remove and expel dead tissues, wastes, and toxins from the body. People also use it to treat arthritis and reduce inflammation of the joints.

For both internal and external hard swellings and inflammations,people utilize Mukul gum  both internally and externally. It acts systemically and topically, particularly for ulcers and glandular swellings such as those seen in plague. Its properties as a suppurative, concoctive, and resolvent aid in these conditions. Additionally, its suppurative and laxative qualities make it beneficial for addressing cold and phlegmatic disorders like paralysis, rheumatism, gout, and sciatica.

As an expectorant, it helps alleviate phlegmatic asthma, and as a styptic, it assists in treating haemoptysis. It also aids in resolving flatulence and tonifying sexual organs due to its tonic effects on the stomach and its expectorant properties.People commonly use it in systemic treatments for bleeding piles and chronic dyspepsia, both internally and topically. Furthermore, they add it to compound drugs to prevent intestinal excoriation caused by warm preparations and find it effective against ringworm either alone or in combination with other active ingredients. Additionally, it helps induce menstruation and aids in the expulsion of the placenta when administered internally as a syrup (Sherbet) or as a pessary (suppository), ensuring safe results.

Recommended dosage:

1 g. It is safe if used in recommended doses for short duration. If taken in high doses it may cause adverse effects such as Stomach upset, Headache, Nausea, Vomiting, Loose stools, Diarrhea, Belching, Gastrointestinal discomfort, Hiccups, Anorexia., Skin rash, Low libido. You should avoid using it during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It may cause problems. As, it is a uterine stimulant.  It is recommended to avoid it if you have thyroid problems.
