Medicinal uses:

Rose flowers are a treasure trove of potential health benefits, boasting both internal and external uses. Traditionally viewed as a coolant and tonic for vital organs, the stomach, and intestines, rose flowers offer a unique compound action. They can act as both a mild laxative and an astringent, depending on their preparation. Dried rose flowers, for instance, are particularly astringent and can help reduce excess heat caused by biliousness. Interestingly, they can even add a pleasant fragrance to perspiration while simultaneously reducing its flow.

Moving beyond internal benefits, rose flowers can also be applied externally to bring relief to warm inflammations and associated pain. People use the distilled water from rose petals, known as rose water, especially for soothing sore or irritated eyes.

The benefits of rose flowers extend far beyond topical and digestive applications. Physicians have been using it traditionally to address burning sensations, bad breath, and even to improve appetite. Additionally, they use rose flower remedies to relieve headaches, toothaches (through gargling), and stomatitis. In some cases, they may even be helpful for individuals with abnormal kidney and liver functions, chronic fevers, inflammations, and intestinal issues.

Rose oil takes on a more practical role, finding use as a flavoring agent. It can effectively mask the unpleasant taste of many medications, making them more palatable. A traditional conserve called Gulqand is another example of the resourceful use of rose flowers. Generally, made from rose petals, sugar candy, and other beneficial ingredients, Gulqand offers a mild laxative effect. People also use it to improve appetite, soothe sore throats, and reduce enlarged tonsils. In some cases, people use Gulqand  to relieve common urogenital disorders and urticaria.
