Description
Karanjwa at sknatural is Caesalpinia bonduc (L.) Roxb.. It is warm and dry in third order/warm in third order dry in second (Kabiruddin). Generally, people use its seeds, root, bark and leaves. It belongs to family “Caesalpiniaceae “.
Pharmacological actions:
Desiccative and absorbent of excessively produced catarrhs in the body, antiflatulent, vermicide, blood purifier, aperient, antiperiodic, antispasmodic, antiseptic. Leaves are deobstruent, emmenagogue, root is digestive tonic and febrifuge. Also, fixed oil obtained from seeds possess emollient activity.

Medicinal uses:
The seeds of Caesalpinia bonduc (L.) Roxb., known for their desiccative and absorbent properties for excess catarrhs in the body, play a vital role in treating scrotal hernia, hydrocele, and dropsy when combined with other suitable medications. They directly apply these seeds to the affected areas as a plaster, while also using powdered seeds for the same purpose.
In cases of paralyzed testes, they tie leaves of castor plant containing powdered seeds. Additionally, they find the dry powder beneficial for treating itching and scabies. They administer half of the seed kernel, bruised with seven cloves, to alleviate flatulent colic. When dealing with intermittent fevers or persistent fever with shivering, they ingest leaves bruised with black pepper for instant relief.
Further, to address quartan fever, they create pills from a combination of bonduc nut seeds, Butea monosperma (Lam.) Kuntz seeds, and flower buds of Acacia arabica (Lam.) Willd. in equal proportions, providing relief in prescribed doses. They find seed kernels with their outer coat burnt overheat highly effective when taken with honey during asthma and bronchitis attacks.
Furthermore, roasting seeds in sesame oil produces an oil that serves as a potent antiseptic and relieves irritative skin conditions and scrofula. They use a decoction of seeds to effectively combat consumption and asthma. This oil acts as an antispasmodic in convulsions, palsy, and similar nervous complaints. Additionally, they find it beneficial when applied in cases of rheumatism, to remove freckles, and as a cosmetic.
