Suranjan talakh corms are characterized by their bitter taste, smaller size, darker color, and reticulate appearance. While their internal use is recommended only in severe attacks of pain in skeletal parts and joints, they are frequently utilized in external or local applications, where their potential is considered superior to that of suranjan shirin.

Moreover, These corms exhibit anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and purgative actions, contrasting with herbs containing salicylic acid, which exert anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and diuretic effects. However, excessive use may lead to erosion of the mucous membranes.
